Dead Space sequel may soon be a reality

Dead Space is a third-person survival horror action game which first gripped players back in October 2008. Developed by Visceral Games, the title is formulated for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Microsoft Windows. Following the success of the first installment, we now have word that a follow-up to Dead Space in currently underway.

According to Superannuation, the second installment is in its later stages of pre-production. Within the next few months, the upcoming game will be set and ready for production. This will be complete with combat and navigational mechanics. To further add more evidence to the confirmation of a second Dead Space game, Linkedln has put up a job listing.

Visceral Games is scouting for a Lead Combat & Controls Designer. The job description reads, “Seeking a highly motivated Lead combat designer for the Dead Space franchise on Xbox360 and PS3. This is a major opportunity to contribute creatively to an exciting new franchise.”

The company states that the M rated sequel is set to raise the bar and deliver an action filled story based console experience. To them gameplay takes first priority while controller feel is also vital. According to the company, the same core team that was associated with the first Dead Space game is set on the job of designing and creating a follow up.

With a few production details revealed we can expect the sequel to Dead Space to land somewhere around the end of 2010. No official confirmation is acquired as of this point.
