A few days ago we had reported that there would be an announcement about Gears of War 2 at this year’s GDC. And that’s exactly what has happened at GDC 2008 as Cliffy B from Epic Games announced Gears of War 2. In an interview with GameDaily, the game designer revealed the details of the action game.
Cliff Bleszinski is the lead designer at Epic Games. He said, “We very much listen to criticisms. Narrative is one of those things that is incredibly important in a video game if you played Portal or BioShock. And we definitely recognize that. The teaser that we released alludes to an even more interesting narrative set-up for Gears of War 2.”
He was quizzed about his chainsaw stunt on stage during the Microsoft keynote. Bleszinski mentioned that he got the inspiration from Prince at the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. He stated that Microsoft wanted him chainsaw his way through to the stage. One thing that made Gears of War so popular is the chainsawing and Gears of War 2 is expected to allow gamers to hack back with the chainsaw.
