Ghostbusters: The Video Game to be Published by Atari

An announcement by Atari, the globally acclaimed video game publishers revealed its plans to include one of the most awaited games of this season, Ghostbusters: The Video Game in its 2009 release schedule. Based on the popular Ghostbusters movie, the title is up for a 2009 launch on six gaming systems.

Coming about the same time as the 25th anniversary bash of the movie’s original release in theatres, Atari in collaboration with development studio Terminal Reality and Sony Pictures Consumer Products Inc. affirmed that they are in fact underway to launch the title to popular gaming platforms. Gamers are promised loads of entertainment with this game.

Phil Harrison, President of Infogrames Entertainment, the parent company of Atari, mentioned, “Ghostbusters: The Video Game is a fantastic addition to Atari’s global line-up in 2009. The title has built considerable anticipation and excitement among game fans for its high quality action and all-out mayhem. There’s no more thrilling Ghostbusting experience to be had, short of building your own proton pack.”

Expect much more than your regular definition of amusement as Ghostbusters: The Video Game brings with it rendition by some of the original cast members. This time again Manhattan has been run over supernatural powers and ghosts and the game brings with it the lots of humor and fright. Enjoy a real world feel as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson lend their voices along with the fan favourites like William Atherton (Walter Peck), Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz) and Brian Doyle-Murray (portraying Mayor Jock Mulligan) for the first time in 20 years.

Set two years after the earlier Ghostbusters II and jotted down by original Ghostbusters writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, Ghostbusters: The Video Game will certainly appeal gamers. So get on your feet to experience some cold sweat yet humorous situations.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is expected to be launched by Atari for the PS3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Windows PC, Wii and Nintendo DS platforms. As of now there’s no word on the price or the exact release date of the game.
