Tomb Raider Not Threatened By Uncharted Drake’s Fortune: Eidos

When Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was announced for the PS3, many had started to call it a male version of Tomb Raider. Though the action game didn’t do that well, there are indications that it will be made into a full-fledged series. VideoGamer is reporting that Eidos has said that their franchise, Tomb Raider, is not threatened by the game.

Kathryn Clements is the senior brand manager for Tomb Raider at Eidos. When asked if she too played Drake’s Fortune, she replied, “I have. I thought it was a good game. We have all played Uncharted at Eidos, and we all thought it was a great game, but actually having played the game, apart from the premise of the storyline and the fact that he’s a treasure hunter, it’s actually quite different to Tomb Raider, it’s actually more focused on combat.”

Besides speaking on Uncharted Drake’s Fortune, she also mentioned something about the latest iteration in the Tomb Raider series. Clements indicated there was not a lead platform for Tomb Raider: Underworld even though the game was shown to the press on the Xbox 360.
