Epic Games Speaks on Gears of War PC Campaign

When Gears of War for the PC was announced at E3 2007, everyone was excited about it as it would have the Brumak battle as well as new content. Xbox 360 gamers were excited too as they were expecting the content as well. But that’s not going to happen as Xbox 360 will not be getting Brumak, which by the way is the massive ‘monster tank’ that gamers ran from but never fought in the Xbox 360 version.

Gears of War PC Campaign

Now Epic’s Lead Designer Cliff Bleszinski and Gears of War PC Producer Rod Fergusson have explained the situation to IGN PC in an interview. Rod Fergusson told IGN, “There is no plan to provide the PC exclusive content to Xbox 360 gamers for a number of technical reasons. One is simply the size and scope of the new content which would be difficult to deliver as an update. But more importantly, Gears of War for Windows was not created with the same version of Unreal Engine 3 as Gears of War for 360. We wanted to take advantage of all the latest and greatest optimizations and features that are constantly being added to UE3 and as such, this new content is not easily compatible with the Xbox 360 version.”

Cliffy B was excited about the Brumak battle of Gears of War and explained to IGN why Xbox 360 version did not have it but the PC version is having it! He said, “Way back in the day we had hoped to fight the Brumak on the Xbox 360. But once we did our first schedules for the original title it became obvious that the beast would have to wait for later… Now, thankfully, he’s able to be revealed in his full prime.”

Well, it seems everything is cleared out! But let’s hope Epic Games do manage to bring out the additional content to the Xbox 360 gamers in the same way so they don’t miss out on the fun.
