No More Heroes to be Published in North America by Ubisoft

American gamers love games based on anime and Ubisoft knows this very well! IGN is reporting that Ubisoft has revealed to them that they will be publishing No More Heroes for the Nintendo Wii in the US.

No More Heroes

The game is about Travis Touchdown, an anime fan who lives in the fictional town of Santa Destroy, California, but soon finds himself at the bottom of an Assassins’ organization. Gamers control Touchdown in an open-world environment as well as use the Wiimote to wield his unique beam katana. They will also be able to slice and dice adversaries in brutal displays of violence and beat down enemies with an assortment of wrestling moves.

Jay Cohen is the vice president of publishing at Ubisoft. He explains, “Ubisoft is excited to be bringing Suda 51’s latest adventure to gamers in North America. Suda 51 is one of the most creative minds in gaming and No More Heroes is shaping up to be a visually stunning and immersive game with an extremely engaging storyline players will no doubt be drawn to.”

Suda 51, President, Grasshopper Manufacture says, “With No More Heroes, we wanted to create a game that allows players to be able to jump right in and play. The Wii allows us to create an open world where movement and gameplay feel very natural.”

No More Heroes has been developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and was directed by Suda 51 (aka Goichi Suda), who has worked on cult hits such as Killer 7 on GameCube. The best part is that the game will be out in North America in February 2008, which is just two months after it ships in Japan.
