Valve’s Source Engine to be used by Nexon

Valve & Nexon Logo Valve has sent word that Korean game developer Nexon has gotten into an agreement to use Source, their leading game engine. Nexon will use Source to power a new title in production for the PC.

Gabe Newell, President & co-founder of Valve quoted, “It’s an honor to have one of the leading publishing and development studios in the world working with Source. We look forward to working closely with NEXON to provide them with the tools and technology needed to create a working base for making first-class games that will be recognized as world-class online offerings.”

Dong-gun Kim, Producer, NEXON says, “We assessed all the engine technologies available for licensing and Source was our best choice. With support for integrated network-physics, high-end visuals, and constant adoption of new features, Source is both the most flexible as well as the most robust technology set available today.”

No details have been released about the game, but it will be a fantasy based, third-person action title. Nexon is one the biggest game developers in Korea and had developed the world’s first graphic massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), The Kingdom of the Winds.
