Activision says new Battlefront game is PSP-exclusive

Activision has stated that the new Star Wars game, Battlefront: Renegade Squadron will only be released for the PSP. The game is expected to take full advantage of the handheld console’s multiplayer abilities.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron is based on the adventures of Hans Solo who travels the galaxy assembling his team of crooks. Gamers will be able to explore all their favourite Star Wars locations, meet well-known characters and utilize machinery from different planets such as Millennium Falcon and Darth’s TIE fighter. The game will also include leaderboards and pages of statistics. It will also allow gamers to customize the species, body, uniform and insignia selections. It will have 8-player ad hoc and 16-player online player support.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron will be the only Battlefront game that will release this year. The game is being developed at Rebellion Studios in the United Kingdom. It will hit the North American stores in Autumn 2007.
