Pure Chess release date for Wii U and 3DS out, cross-platform play included

Back in 2012, Pure Chess had made its way to the PS Store, and its makers are now ready with a version of the game meant for Nintendo platforms. It will be released for the Wii U and the 3DS on March 20 with support for cross-platform play between the two devices as well iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. The game will be sold through the eShop at 4.99 GBP (approx. Rs 510), 5.99 Euros (approx. Rs 510) or 7.99 USD (approx. Rs 490).

Pure Chess

Pure Chess was supposed to be launched on these platforms last year, however, it was hit with a delay. According to publisher Ripstone’s creative director Phil Gaskell, it was the implementation of cross-play which resulted in the spending of more time. He said that the makers ‘underestimated the effort and technicalities involved with getting it right.’

Developed by VooFoo Studios, Pure Chess kicks in photo-realistic visuals, and features intricately designed chess pieces and varied locations. Created with the guidance of a Grandmaster, it features three tournaments, and a hundred bonus chess puzzles to test your wits on. Using its cross-play trait, you can challenge any of your friends or anyone from around the world through its leaderboards.

Like we said, Pure Chess will be released for the Wii U and the 3DS on March 20, and will retail on the eShop at the above mentioned prices. It can already be purchased for the PS3 and the PS Vita, apart from Android and iOS devices.
