PS Vita system update increases limit for number of apps to home screen

Later today PS Vita owners will be able to download a big new system update onto their handhelds, which will increase the number of apps that can be stored on the home screen. Moreover, Sony has also revealed that the device will now support voice messaging and Google Calendar amongst other things. It’s slated to be made available for download later today.

PS Vita

Dubbed update 3.10, this release will grant the PS Vita the ability to store 500 applications on its home screen. This is a huge increase in the capacity, as the device only allowed 100 icons to be present on it prior to this. Sony has even revealed that following this update, owners of the PS Vita and the PS4 will be able to voice chat with each other.

A Calendar app will get added as well, allowing you to sync it with your Google Calendar account and share events with friends through messages or emails. Fresh changes to the PS Vita’s parental control options mean that elders will be able to restrict access to the PS Store by age. Another big introduction is that of a check and manage Memory Card usage option. There are other inclusions to this update as well, and they can all be spotted on the official EU PlayStation blog.

Like we said, the new PS Vita system update will be released by Sony later today.
