Crystal Defenders Coming to PSN in PAL Territories

Crystal Defenders is a tower defense game featuring many characters from the best selling Final Fantasy Tactics series. The game first came out early last year, and since then, it has been ported to many platforms such as Wii, mobiles, and Xbox 360. Now, Square Enix has announced that the tower defense simulation game will be available across PAL regions via the PlayStation Store this week.

Following on the success of previous Crystal Defenders titles, this version brings a new and stimulating tactical challenge that everyone can thoroughly enjoy,” stated Larry Sparks, Vice President Brands PAL Region of Square Enix.

Crystal Defenders will feature locales and jobs from the hit Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift game in addition to breathtaking esper summons and allies. The game will also feature Power Crystals which enhance a unit’s powers to add extra depth to the already engaging gameplay. Players would have to use their entire strategic prowess to prevent attacking hordes from getting a hold of their party’s crystals.

Apart from better control options, this version of the game will feature areas not present in earlier versions. A player’s actions in the game will be governed by many factors like job attributes, monster weaknesses and strengths, as well as the map’s terrain. Players are also given the option to upload their scores to game leaderboards through the PSN and see how they measure up against players from across the globe.

The PSN port of Crystal Defenders is developed by TOSE. While the exact details about the prices have not been announced, the game will be available via the PlayStation Store in PAL territories from July 23, 2009 onwards.
