Last week we saw Activision announce plans for DLC for the Guitar Hero 5 and also their other titles in the works, DJ Hero and Band Hero. Now Destructoid is reporting that the Guitar Hero 5 DLC won’t be compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour. Bummer! Especially of you were looking forward to using that content on your World Tour game.
“Guitar Hero 5 downloadable content will be compatible with future Guitar Hero and Band Hero games,” a rep told the website, “however the advancements sand innovations made to the franchise do not allow for downloadable content to be backwards compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour.”
The “advancements” include the Expert+ drumming and the new vocal star among others. And apparently, you can use your Guitar Hero World Tour and Smash Hits songs for Guitar Hero 5 by exporting them. But you will have to download tracks with the updated GH5 features.
Basically the DLC for Guitar Hero 5 is designed only for GH5 and due to the added features of the game, is incompatible with earlier games in the series. The next in the GH franchise is scheduled for a September 1, 2009 release, while prices are not known.
