So much has been said about Activision’s new line of music-based games, especially Guitar Hero 5. Recently we reported that Xbox avatars would feature as playable characters in the game, as would Carlos Santana. Now we have word that legendary singer-songwriter, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and multiple Grammy Award winner, Johnny Cash will be featured as a playable character in Guitar Hero 5. This will be the late great country singer-songwriter’s video game debut.

Johnny Cash

The game already features Cash’s Ring of Fire and players can unlock Cash in the all new Electric Honky Tonk Bar venue, ensuring that he lives on. The entire set list of songs in the game can be played by eager fans, right from the start. Artists included in the game are Bob Dylan, Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Tom Petty and Vampire Weekend. Guitar Hero 5 gives players the freedom to mix and match, playing with any in-game instrument combination. There is even a Party Play Mode, and players can jump in and out of a jam session without warranting a restart.
