The Beatles: Rock Band was premiered at this year’s E3 held in LA and now MTV Games and Harmonix with distribution partner EA have announced that 12 tracks from English heavy metal band Iron Maiden will be available next week on the Rock Band Music Store. The twelve tracks will be downloadable for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii video game systems.
“Fans have been asking us to do something with Rock Band for some time, and this seemed to be a perfect opportunity,” Rod Smallwood, Iron Maiden manager commented. “Our recent Somewhere Back in Time tour was perhaps the most enjoyable one we have ever undertaken and certainly the most successful with almost 2 million people catching the shows around the world. So it just seemed a good idea to make some of the songs we played available now so fans can play along with the band on the tour. Then we shall see if they can keep up with the band!!”
These downloadable tracks will be released to coincide with the US Blu-ray and DVD releases of Flight 666, the documentary film on the band’s Somewhere Back in Time World Tour. The documentary follows Iron Maiden’s legendary tour which saw the band travel 50,000 miles around the world and perform 23 concerts on five continents, all in only 45 days. The film also featured Ed Force One, the band’s customized Boeing 757 which transported the entire crew and 12 tons of stage equipment, and was piloted by vocalist Bruce Dickinson who is also an active Airline Captain with Astraeus Airlines.

The Iron Maiden tracks will be available as individual songs or together as the ‘Iron Maiden Pack’ and will release on June 9, 2009 on the Xbox Live Marketplace for the Xbox 360 and in the in-game Rock Band 2 Music Store for the Wii, and on June 11, 2009 on the PlayStation Store for the PS3. Individual tracks will cost 160 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360 or 1.99 USD (approx. Rs. 94) for the PS3 or 2.00 USD (approx. Rs. 94) for the Wii. The Iron Maiden Pack will cost 1600 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360 or 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 940) for the PS3.
