Super Mario 2, Mach Rider and Blazing Lazers to hit the European VC

Nintendo is planning to offer European Wii gamers a chance to save the planet, then go on a journey through space and then overthrow a wicked tyrant. This week, Super Mario Bros. 2, Mach Rider and Blazing Lazers will find their way to the European Virtual Console.

Super Mario Bros. 2 (500 Wii Points): Released for the NES in 1989, Super Mario Bros. 2 sees Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad go for a picnic that turns out to be quite an adventure. They end up in the mystifying land of Subcon, which they have to save it from the curse of grimy frog tyrant, Wart. Gamers must play each of the four main characters in the game.

Mach Rider (500 Wii Points): This game too, was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It debuted in 1987. The game is set in 2112, when Earth has been attacked by evil quad bikers who are bent on obliterating everything. Gamers take on the role of Mach Rider, the world’s last hope, and travel from area to area destroying any quad bikers they encounter. However, there is one difference between the NES and Wii version of the game, as gamers can create and save their own courses.

Blazing Lazers (600 Wii Points): This one is a Turbografx game first released in 1989. The vertical scrolling shoot ‘em up game features nine levels of non-stop shooting action in the darkest depths of space. Gamers can select from four weapon types including bullets, waves and rings, each of which can be upgraded making them even more deadly.

Mario Bros. 2, Mach Rider and Blazing Lazers will join the list of 89 classic titles already available for the Virtual Console in Europe. Blazing Lazers was also released on the American Virtual console.
