Snowpack Park out on WiiWare, Spin Master arrives on VC

Ironically, Nintendo seems to be expecting Wii players to derive heat to soothe the quivering cold off their bodies with a game that presents penguin-centric thrills and snow as the backdrop element. As the new week embarks upon us, Nintendo has announced its weekly downloadable releases, namely Snowpack Park for WiiWare and Spin Master for Virtual Console, as well as offered new demo versions of And Yet It Moves, Bit.Trip Fate, Jett Rocket and ThruSpace.

Snowpack Park Spin Master

A storm has struck the Snowpack Park shooing away all the inhabitant penguins to near and distant islands across the area leaving only a bunch of them behind. The game enables players to steer a Mii character or any one of the in-game characters across different terrains and unforeseen hindrances to search for and fetch these penguins back to the park. Based on the amount of interaction players have with these short-legged flightless birds, their moods will waver with reflective highs and lows. Penguins with bad moods escape the park, and so players will have to take sufficient care of the birds with adequate food, frequent petting and playing with them to maintain their happy moods. Encompassing several minigames to play, fish for penguins to eat and headwear pieces for them to wear, Snowpack Park also offers blowfish to roll up into snowballs along with numerous other useful things. Snapshots of players and their penguins can be collected from one of the park’s photo-taking locations.

Subsequently, reviving the classic adventure of the NeoGeo platformer Spin Master, a Virtual Console version of the game is now being offered for Wii. Originally released in 1993, the game puts players in the shoes of an explorer Johnny who sets forth on a quest to recover his girlfriend and a piece of treasure map both thieved away by Dr. De Playne. Spin Master consists of five stages with each one presenting an original and colorful boss at the end. Completing levels is rewarded with a piece of the treasure map and combining these reveals a new surprise for the players. Employing standard attacks, jumps along with special attacks such as sliding attacks, super bomb attacks and spirit charges adequately, will enable players to progress in the game and experience riveting combats.

Along with Snowpack Park and Spin Master, Nintendo now offers four demo versions of exciting games through its WiiWare Service. These include the much acclaimed And Yet It Moves, Jett Rocket, ThruSpace and Bit.Trip Fate which are accessible at zero Wii Points. And Yet It Moves is a physics-based game where players will run and jump across a digital realm built entirely of paper, while Jett Rocket allows players to adventure through the beautiful world of Yoroppa as they uncover the truth behind the evil Power Plant Posse’s attack on the planet. An engaging puzzle game ThruSpace has gamers moving and rotating objects called Keydrons through openings in the wall across a seemingly endless medium. Bit.Trip Fate, the fifth installment of its series, is an on-rails side-scrolling shoot ‘em up game which portrays Commander Video traversing on a vibe and discovering his fate.

Snowpack Park is now available from WiiWare and can be purchased for 800 Wii Points. Players can lay their hands on the Virtual Console version of Spine Master for Wii at a price of 900 Wii Points. The demo versions of Bit.Trip Fate, ThruSpace, And Yet It Moves as well as Jett Rocket can be downloaded for free via the WiiWare service.
