Just last month we disclosed that a new action-adventure installment in The Legend of Zelda series was scheduled to unfurl this month and right enough Nintendo delivered. The company announces the unveiling of its latest title called The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. This latest title in the acclaimed franchise is fashioned for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi.
The game sees the well-known character Link teaming up for the first time with Princess Zelda as they join forces to save Hyrule from destruction. Players will be able to espy Link making his way through dangerous dungeons and even commanding a special customizable train. The game comes complete with tricky puzzles, loads of exploration opportunities and an intense storyline.
The newly released title builds upon the touch-screen control interface seen in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass which released in 2007. This inclusion makes it easier for players to guide the protagonist through his adventures. Aiding Link in his endeavor is the active participation of Princess Zelda who has the ablity to control Phantom characters.
Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing explained, “During the holidays, people are striving to find entertainment options that offer hours of fun, and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks delivers. For more than 20 years, audiences have been captivated by the storyline and sense of exploration offered by these beloved games. The plot twists and seamless controls of this latest installment will engage existing fans of The Legend of Zelda series while introducing new players to the series’ magic.”
Players are introduced to new items such as the Whirlwind and the Spirit Flute which can be used to play music in order to enchant in-game objects and events. This can be done by blowing through the integrated microphone of the handheld console. Via Link’s customizable train, gamers can explore the wonderful world of Hyrule. While on their journey, they can take up special missions and challenging routes which will lead them to new areas where they can gather new equipment and parts.
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is packed with a new head-to-head multiplayer mode. This feature enables up to four gamers compete against each other through a local wireless connection with one single game card. There are six different areas in this mode where players can acquire the valuable Force Gems. While venturing through the sessions, they must be steer clear of patrolling Phantoms as well as set traps and use their abilities against their opponents.
The latest Zelda title is said to be the 15th installment in the popular franchise which acquired fans right from 1986. According to the company, The Legend of Zelda series has seen over 59 million games sold globally. There is however no word on the pricing of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks as yet.
