Back in October THQ disclosed that gamers could expect Metro 2033 to release into stores by early 2010 although the exact dates weren’t disclosed. Now however the company has finally revealed the exact dates. Metro 2033 is scheduled to hit North America and Europe on March 16 and 19, 2010 respectively.
Metro 2033 is a first-person shooter game based on a best-selling Russian novel penned by Dmitry Glukhovsky bearing the same name. Gamers can espy a Limited Edition offering for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the title. This comprises of a special in-game weapon which is noted to be an automatic shotgun as well as four art cards designed by the Russian painter Anton Grechko.
The game is set in a post apocalyptic Moscow where the human inhabitants have all fled underground. Players take on the role of Artyom who was raised within the Metro Station-City limits. Now gamers have to traverse beyond the forgotten catacombs and onto the wastelands above in order to warn mankind about a great impending menace.
Players can pre-order the Standard and Limited Edition versions of the game. Selected retailers also offer free Metro 2033 themed Xbox Live Avatar items with the pre-orders. The exact pricing details of Metro 2033 are not yet disclosed by the company.
