PopCap Games Announces Global Tie-up with Sony Ericsson

After its multi-million dollar acquisition by EA this month, PopCap has struck a deal which marks the entrance of its games on Android smartphones in Europe. PopCap Games announced today that their global agreement with Sony Ericsson will result in Games by PopCap being pre-loaded on the company’s Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro smartphones.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia mini devices are equipped with superior processing power and exceptional screen resolution on the Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA® Engine, which provides an excellent platform for delivering the quality fun that our fans have come to expect,” explained, Giordano Bruno Contestabile, PopCap’s senior director of global product and business strategy for mobile.

The agreement states that popular games like Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle and Chuzzle will be loaded on smartphone devices scheduled to hit markets later this summer. While Chuzzle will be available as a full version, unlimited trial modes of the other two games will be featured on the phones. Users can however, download full editions by selecting options in the game. They will be downloaded with a directly integrated billing service.

This partnership between PopCap Games and Sony Ericsson is expected bring in a new wave in the ever so competitive smartphone market.
