GTA V ships whopping 54 million copies worldwide

During its latest earnings call, Take-Two Interactive announced that it prime offering, GTA V has sold a whopping 54 million copies all over the world. The game along with others has contributed towards raising the company’s revenue by 142 percent compared to last year.

It was only three months ago that GTA V was reported to have sold 52 million copies, and new sales of the game have already led to the figure having reached 54 million. The newly launched PC version which supports mods and comes with several other unique features is one of the reasons for this sudden rise in its sales.

Take-Two Interactive is saying that its overall revenue reached $366.4 million which is a 142 percent increase over its $151.6 million revenue during the same period last year. The firm has managed to post a profit of $34.2 million for the quarter. This number is again way better than last year’s $11.2 million net loss.

GTA V

Apart from GTA V and GTA Online, other titles like NBA 2K15, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and WWE 2K15 were revealed to be the main drivers of the company’s successful run. It has been disclosed that revenue coming from digitally delivered content has also seen a healthy rise.

GTA V is available on all major platforms right now, except for the Wii U of course. First launched in September 2013, it was lauded for its extremely large and diverse open world setting as well as its three character mechanism which was a novel concept for the series.
