Alan Wake PC Version Headed for Steam This Month

Almost a week after the boxed PC version of Alan Wake was announced to be warming up for release, news has arrived that its downloadable PC edition will be launched via Steam on February 16, 2012. Developer Remedy Entertainment has also disclosed that following this date, the third-person action game will also be seen hitting other popular digital channels.

Said to contain influences of Alfred Hitchcock as well as TV series’ like Twin Peaks and Lost, this offering was first outed in May 2010 for the Xbox 360. Its story is centered on a struggling author who’s suffering from writer’s block. This compels him to travel with his wife to the small and calm town of Bright Falls for a short vacation, and this is from where the story unfolds to reveal a number of mysteries that keep stalking Alan all throughout the game.

The developer claims to have enhanced the original title with high-resolution graphics, refined PC features as well as support for stereoscopic 3D and multiscreen. While this studio itself will be publishing the digital version, the responsibility of its boxed PC version will be handled by Nordic Games. A follow up to this title, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, is also set to be released via the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade House Party.

Upon its PC release through Steam on February 16, Alan Wake will be priced at 29.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,465), whereas an LCE version will also retail on the service at 34.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,710).
