Landon Donovan to Adorn the Cover of FIFA Soccer 11

FIFA 11 has something to entice players of various gaming systems. The Wii version of the title is set to boast of a new street football mode while the PC iteration will include the console football gaming engine. Overall, the game will enter the pitch packed with many new inclusions. Now Electronic Arts has revealed that Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan will be the cover athlete for EA Sports FIFA Soccer 11. Donovan will be joined by the likes of Arsenal’s Carlos Vela and Real Madrid’s Kaka on the title’s cover.

Donovan is currently part of the Los Angeles Galaxy team and had also played for the U.S. Men’s National Team at 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. For LA, scoring 5 goals and 11 assists in 13 games. According to the company, he was splashed onto the cover of two earlier titles in this sports video game franchise namely FIFA Soccer 2003 and FIFA Soccer 07 in North America. This will however be his first time that he shares the cover with Vela and Kaka.

“Landon is the most recognizable, popular and accomplished soccer player in the United States and he was at his best with the world watching during the 2010 FIFA World Cup,” commented Matt Bilbey, Vice President of Soccer, EA Sports. “After his FIFA World Cup performance and the season he had with the Galaxy last year we felt he belonged back on the cover of FIFA Soccer 11.”

FIFA Soccer 11 includes features such as the new Personality+ where the individual abilities are reflected in the game. The new Pro Passing and 360° Fight For Possession are the other new attributes football fans can expect from the game when it releases in stores next month.

Players can spot Landon Donovan along with Kaka and Vela adorning the cover of FIFA Soccer 11 in the United States and Canada when it hits stores on September 28, 2010. The game will unfurl across systems like the PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, Nintendo DS, PSP, PC and iPhone. The title will unveil for the Wii on October 4, 2010.
