PS4 software update version 1.60 adds official headset support

With the upcoming system software update version 1.60 for the PS4 console, Sony will finally be adding support for official headsets such as the Pulse and the Pulse Elite Edition. In addition to the new firmware, the company has announced that it plans to launch a new pair of cans under the Gold Wireless Headset branding. The new member in the lineup will go on sale for $99.99.

The Gold Wireless Headset can be used on the PS4 and PS3 consoles. The accessory can be connected to both systems via the wireless adapter. According to Sony, the new addition will deliver around eight hours of battery life for long gaming sessions. The headphones are designed with a folding form factor, making them convenient to carry around.

A travel pouch has also been bundled. The Gold Wireless Headset can even be used with the PS Vita through the included 3.5mm audio cable. Sony states that the accessory is compatible with its Headset Companion App that will reach the PlatStaion Store this month.

In other news, the company has announced that PS Plus members are being treated to free copies of Outlast (PS4) and Metro: Last Light (PS3). Various discounts have also been revealed. Dustforce for the Vita is now $7.99, while Adam’s Venture Chronicles is tagged at $9.59 from $11.99. The sound track of this release can be downloaded for free.

The PS4 system software update version 1.60 is scheduled to go live starting today. Also, the Gold Wireless Headset will go on sale in the US in the coming days.
