Resistance Collection release date announced

December 5 has been marked to be the Resistance Collection release date, giving eager fans a reason to cheer this holiday season. This set containing all the three main entries to the series and select DLC packs will be made available at a price of 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,210) for the PS3. It has been confirmed however that the first game in the trilogy – which had shipped without Trophy support in 2006 – will still have no Trophies in this re-release.

Resistance Collection

Developer Insomniac Games claims to have created the series based on its very own PS one titled called Disruptor. The said first-person shooter is also the developer’s first ever title. And it is this game from which the concept of the Resistance series evolved over the years before shaping up to be one the launch titles for Sony’s PS3 console in 2006.

While the first entry to the franchise introduced a stellar campaign and 40-player multiplayer modes, its 2008 sequel also turned out to be a successful offering in both the departments. The latest main addition to the series was the end of the trilogy which came out last year in September. We gave it an Overall score of 9/10 in our review, citing it to be a ‘fantastic effort which combines extravagant visuals with an ornate gameplay experience.’

As far as DLC packs for all the three titles from the Resistance Collection are concerned, Insomniac Games has indeed released a list of all the additional content that will be dished out with the set. The second title will have its Aftermath Multiplayer Map Pack, Wraith Skin multiplayer weapon and a Skin Bundle to accompany it, while the third game will come with its Brutality and Survival packs.

This deal for the Resistance Collection is part of the PlayStation Collection bundles that were launched by Sony in August this year with compilations of God of War, Ratchet & Clank and inFamous titles. Furthermore, the Killzone Trilogy was introduced in October, equipped with a revamped HD version of the original game and of course the two PS3 titles that followed. More such bundles are also expected to step out of Sony’s stable in the near future.
