An unpredicted update reporting a release delay back in September might have disappointed a lot of LittleBigPlanet lovers, but there’s more there to it than just the delay and it’s good news this time over. The official PlayStation blog has posted a LittleBigPlanet 2 Featurette trailer with a central focus on the new addition to the game, the Controlinator.
The little device is reportedly the single most powerful feature offered in the LittleBigPlanet 2 as it unlocks the possibilities of ‘direct control’. With this add-on, players will be able to directly control all sorts of contraptions and vehicles, along with the previously governable Sackboy character, such as flying bumblebee with built-in honey-powered artillery or a racing buggy.
Various aspects can be optimized such as ascribable controls along with the ways that gravity and inertia influence its movement. Moreover, these are not the only ways that the Controlinator can be utilized. Players can engage in several levels created by other gamers and enjoy top-down races, rhythm action multiplayer face-offs and side-scrolling shooters among others, which employ the Controlinator in interesting ways.
LittleBigPlanet 2 is scheduled to be release on January 18, 2011 and is available for pre-orders as a Standard Edition and a Limited Collector’s Edition from the official LittleBigPlanet 2 website.
