DJ Hero is the music-based video game from Activision which has players emulating DJs as they scratch and crossfade their way to success. The game was released in October last year, and earlier we reported that DJ David Guetta hinted at a follow-up to the game. We now have word that in an interview with Game Informer in December last year, Bobby Kotick, Activision CEO has seemingly confirmed a DJ Hero sequel for 2010.

“If you’re going to make a commitment to doing something original, the odds are that you’re not going to get it right on the first chance,” Kotick says in the interview, pointing to developers like Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Raven, and Neversoft, who have worked with Activision.
“I think DJ Hero is a really innovative product. I can’t wait for you to see next year’s,” said Kotick. “That’s the thing; we’re sticking with it. We’ll stick with it and get it right. But it’s going to be less games, better games. That’s our strategy.”
Whether he means DJ Hero is definitely getting a sequel this year, or whether Activision just has an extremely innovative product in the pipeline, is not really clear. Either way, the strategy seems to point towards better titles.
DJ Hero received quite a lot of critical acclaim, but didn’t do all that well, probably because it came amidst a bevy of music game releases. But Activision seems adamant on scratching out another iteration of the DJ-ing title.
