Dark Souls 2 has sold over 1 million copies already

Giving us an indication of just how popular Dark Souls 2 is, Bandai Namco has announced that its relentlessly challenging action-RPG has traded off more than 1 million copies already. Moreover, this number only applies to the PS3 and Xbox 360 copies, with the PC sales not included in it. This sequel was released for the two platforms in March this year, whereas its PC version was out internationally since this April.

To be exact, over 1.2 million PS3 and Xbox 360 copies of the game have been sold in North America and Europe within the last financial year. Since the PC version was out after the end of the fiscal year, its sales haven’t been included in the annual earnings all from Bandai Namco. If this keeps up, Dark Souls 2 wouldn’t take long to beak its predecessor’s record of selling 2.3 million copies in about 7 months.

This hack and slash action role-playing game takes place in an open world environment and presents intense gameplay that is characterized by its extremely difficult nature. But competitive and cooperative multiplayer aspects have been beautifully woven into the single-player offerings of this game. Developed by From Software, it has received rave reviews for its offerings.

Dark Souls 2 is out now for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in boxed as well as download form.
