Final Fantasy X HD and X-2 HD to feature support for cross-saves

Some exciting news has come the way of FF fans, with the makers of the series having confirmed that Final Fantasy X HD and X-2 HD will both feature support for cross saves on the PS3 and the PS Vita. They don’t fall under the Cross Buy trait however, as the home console versions of both the titles will be sold on a single disc, whereas the handheld editions will be making their way in to the market on two different Game Cards.

During a presentation at the Japan Expo in Paris, the director of the series, Yoshinori Kitase confirmed the news about the cross-saves feature, according to RPGSite. With the implementation of this feature, gamers will be able to share saves across both the PS3 as well as the PS Vita versions of Final Fantasy X HD and X-2 HD, and pick up from where they left off on either of the two platforms. The high-definition remastered versions of the extremely popular original editions are slated to come out sometime during this year.

There was a lot of chatter earlier that both these titles are being completely remade, but it was only in February this year that the truth came to the fore. There’s something more to cheer about for those looking forward to Final Fantasy X HD and X-2 HD. An extra 30-minute ending scene written by Kazushige Nojima is being prepped up for the titles, as reported by Gematsu recently. Nojima is a veteran writer for the series, having worked on numerous classics.

The originals which Final Fantasy X HD and X-2 HD are remastered versions of had been released back in 2001 and 2003, respectively only for the PS2. Both are regarded as two of the best RPGs of all time, and this is one of the prime reasons why there’s so much anticipation associated with their high-definition versions.

We’ll have more on FF X HD and X-2 HD if and when other important details related to these games pop up.
