At the ongoing GDC in San Francisco, publisher Paradox Interactive has revealed a total of three new games, namely The Showdown Effect, Dungeonland and RED Frontier. These offerings are being developed by ”˜small and fresh-thinking’ game studios, and are currently available to view and play at Paradox Interactive’s gaming lounge at the GDC.

The Showdown Effect comes from Arrowhead Game Studios which is responsible for last year’s Magicka. It is basically a 2.5D multiplayer action title that allows gamers to jump into death-matches. Said to operate on the principle of ”˜more is more,’ it supposedly offers an infinite amount of ways to customize its gameplay.

Dungeonland on the other hand, is described as an adventure in a classic co-op dungeon crawl, with a sinister twist. It will allow three players to play as daring heroes, while a fourth gamer will be required to don the role of Dungeonland’s Game Master. Hero customization, looting and a number of collectible items have been announced to form a part of this title, which is hailed as an amoral, atypical take on asymmetric gameplay.

A new style of competitive RTS gaming will be introduced by RED Frontier. Players will be seen choosing their sci-fi heroes for fighting strategically alongside teammates and droids in a struggle for resources. An arsenal of combat droids, vehicles as well as various abilities like deployable machine gun turrets, minefields and orbital rocket strikes will all be at their disposal.
Paradox Interactive is yet to announce the release dates and other information regarding these three PC games.
