Cave Story for WiiWare; Game & Watch games for DSiWare this week

Nintendo is back once again to portray just what it has in store for owners of the Wii and DSi consoles. The line-up this week may be a bit disappointing as there are no Virtual Console games and only one WiiWare offering. The company unveils Drift Street International, Libera Wing as well as a few Game & Watch series games namely Mario’s Cement Factory, Chef and Judge for the Nintendo DSi. WiiWare gets just one title namely Cave Story.

Nintendo DSiWare games

Cave Story, published by Nicalis Inc., transports players to a new world where rabbit-like critters called Mimiga reside. In this single player title, gamers find themselves in a cave without any memory. They have to adorn the role of an amnesiac lad who seems to be the Mimiga Village’s only hope against the evil scientist. The Wii game is priced at 1,200 Wii Points.

Moving on to the Nintendo DSiWare titles, we see Drift Street International making its way onto the handheld console. Fashioned exclusively for this system, publishers Tantalus is all set to provide players with a new street racing experience. They can race along loads of city streets strewn across Japan, United Kingdom and United States. Gamers can build up their nitrous meter while trying to outsmart challenging AI drivers or friends as the game also supports four-player wireless races. There are also challenging speed trials and arcade-style checkpoint races packed within Drift Street International.

Published by Pixel Federation, Libera Wing sports a storyline which sees enemy ships fast approaching the stations. Players have to take on the role of the Libera Wing captain and ultimately save the Earth Union by using right abilities, items and strategy of the command ship. This tower- defense-style title features 24 quick-play levels as well as 36 story levels.

In Game & Watch: Mario’s Cement Factory, gamers must move Mario to various levels as he puts cement from top mixers to the ones below and then into the waiting trucks. Each load of cement gets you a point whereas each blunder gets you a mistake icon. When three of the latter are received, the game is over.

Game & Watch: Chef lets players put on the chef’s hat in order to catch the falling ingredients. Game A and Game B comprises of three and four ingredients respectively. Points are earned when the ingredient is flipped and a mistake icon is acquired when you drop it.

In Game & Watch: Judge, players have just mere seconds to ponder on whether to hit the opponent or just duck. Each player has particular numbers on the screen. If they think the number will be greater than the opponent, players can hit him but if they fathom the number would be smaller then they should dodge. Whichever player earns 99 points wins the game.

Drift Street International and Libera Wing can be acquired for 800 Nintendo DSi Points each. The three Game & Watch titles are each priced at 200 Nintendo DSi Points.
