The Witcher: Battle Arena has just been announced by CD Projekt RED as a multiplayer online battle arena game that’s meant for mobile platforms and is slated to be released in Q4 of this year. It will allow gamers to don the roles of different characters from the franchise’s universe, and will be a free-to-play offering. It is being developed by Polish company, Fuero Games under the close guidance of CD Projekt RED itself.

Familiar characters from previous titles are one of the main attractions of this offering. You can jump into the shoes of the kingslayer Letho, the sorceress Philippa Eilhartm, the dwarf Zoltan Chivay or the elf Iorveth. Apart from these, the other characters which will form part of the game include Eithne of Brokilon, The Operator, Golem and Saskia of Aedirn. All these will be drafted into Dota and League of Legends-style MOBA matches, which will be playable using touchscreen devices.

Eurogamer got a chance to play the game at this year’s E3, and according to the site, its developers have stressed on making it a free game disguised as a free-to-play one. The Witcher: Battle Arena won’t ‘forced to pay for anything’ as payments will only be allowed for speeding up the leveling process and other things which won’t interfere with the core experience.

There’s no release date attached to The Witcher: Battle Arena yet, but it has been revealed to be aiming for a Q4 launch. This game will be seen hitting Android, Windows Phone and iOS platforms when it’s out.
