Xbox Lockhart could offer same CPU speed as the main Series X

If you’re out of the loop, Microsoft is believed to have one more console in its cannon, apart from the Xbox Series X. It’s being referred to by its apparent codename Xbox Lockhart, and a new tidbit that has just come out will really make those looking forward to it happy. A report now suggests that the Lockhart console will be able to offer the same CPU speed as the main Xbox Series X console. This is particularly exciting since Lockhart has been conceived as a cheaper, non-beefier alternative for those who don’t care much about 4K gaming, but still want to enjoy next-gen gameplay.

Tom Warren from The Verge has been releasing timely details about the Xbox Lockhart console over the past few weeks, and he is the one who has revealed that it will feature the same CPU and clock speed as the Xbox Series X. He has also mentioned that the difference will primarily lie in the graphics processing department. In the past, he has revealed that the Lockhart console will ship with 7GB of RAM and a 4 TFLOP GPU, against the 16GB of RAM and 12 TFLOP GPU of the Series X.

Rumors about Xbox Lockhart were around since last year, but there were even talks of development having been halted. However, it’s being said that Microsoft swung into action with this console once again seeing as Sony’s PS5 was unveiled to come in the form of disc drive and non-disc drive options. If word on the street is to be believed, the Lockhart console will deliver the same features as those of the Series X, which includes Smart Delivery, backward compatibility with three earlier Xbox consoles, and an onboard SSD.

We’ll bring you more about Xbox Lockhart when we get to know anything new about it.
