Updated Nintendo Switch with better battery life now available in US

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch was recently announced to get an updated version with better battery life, and that model is now available for purchase in US, along with Japan. This variant will also be released in the UK, but that launch is planned for September. Its price stays put at $300, but trade-in deals are being offered by GameStop, allowing you to snag the new model for yourself at as low as $75.

The newly updated Nintendo Switch ships with improvements to its battery life. This is achieved with the use of a better battery and lower power consuming CPU and GPU setups. Despite this however, there is no improvement in the performance of the console in any way. The Switch even grabs a new and better-calibrated display. All this leads to a battery life estimate of 4.5 to 9 hours, depending on the kind of games being played. In contrast, the launch model of the Nintendo console lasted for 2.5 to 6.5 hours, while the upcoming Switch Lite is claimed to last for 3 to 7 hours.

Like we said, the price of the new model remains the same. It can be grabbed through major retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. But if you’re looking for a trade-in deal, you can head to GameStop where surrendering your old Nintendo Switch will allow you to buy the new variant at just $75. This offer will only be valid till September 15.

The packaging of the fresh Switch is quite identical to the old model, so do make sure you’re making the right choice at the shelves. The box of the new variant features a red background, whereas that of the old one leans more towards white.
