New Epic Games IP to be Revealed at GDC 2011

Epic Games have been developing a variety of titles to quench the massive action-adventure thirst of players across the terrain. From Unreal Tournament to the epic Gears of War series, we’ve experienced varied narratives against different backdrops. The Examiner has recently reported that the company is now crafting a new project to further expand its portfolio. According to the post, Epic Games’ design director, Cliff Bleszinksi, revealed during an interview with EGM that the developer will announce a new IP in early 2011.

“I believe game designers are the Stan Lees and Jack Kirbys of our day, and we’re creating these universes that leave a huge impact on people. Gamers votes with their dollars and they often like established IP, but those IPs came from somewhere, right? Call of Duty was crafted by the original Medal of Honor guys. Gears of War was crafted by the original Unreal Tournament guy. I look forward to creating what’s next,” remarked Cliff Bleszinki, Design Director, Epic Games.

During the conversation, Bleszinki is said to have disclosed that the company could bring this new project to the fore at next year’s Game Developers Conference. Reportedly, the game was supposed to be a result of the designer’s ideas. However, with Prototype’s Eric Holmes on board, it has become more of the latter’s piece of work. Rumors also suggest that the project was to be disclosed at the VGAs this year but faced delay for reasons which still remain under the shade.

Game Developers Conference has been scheduled to run from February 28, 2011 to March 4, 2011 in San Francisco. Only time will tell if this new Epic Games IP is the next big thing or not. For now, we can wait until GDC 2011 kicks off to unravel some more details about the new IP.
