Super Smash Bros. Brawl will now Release in February 2008

Earlier this year, Nintendo head Reggie Fils-Aime had said that Super Smash Bros. Brawl (SSBB) would be releasing in 2007. However, it seems that the game won’t release this Christmas. According to Wired, Nintendo has confirmed that Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Nintendo Wii will release in February 2008.

This was announced at a press conference on San Francisco. As you all know, the game features characters from many Nintendo franchises like Mario, Princess Zelda and Pikachu. Nintendo has also displayed a playable version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the first time and quelled down speculations that the game’s delay would cause trouble to them. Even analysts are of the view that SSBB’s delay won’t affect Nintendo.

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter explains, “But instead of Nintendo being the clear winner this holiday, maybe Microsoft has a chance of keeping up. There’s not as much compelling Nintendo content this holiday without it. That’s the game that people who bought Wii for ‘Tennis’ will want.”

Pachter also forecasted that Nintendo’s next generation console would sell out this holiday season. That could be true as the Wii has been outselling the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3 in most of the territories despite the fact that the next-gen consoles by Microsoft and Sony have better graphics.
