Gran Turismo 5 on PS3 Finally Drives into Stores

Anticipated as one of the most near-real racing simulators, Gran Turismo 5 is a shiner option among the lot who has finally reached fruition after appearing to be in unsteady development and being postponed for as long as five years after its antecedent. But eventually, bemusing times for GT fans have arrived as SCEE and Polyphony Digital have announced that the tracks of Gran Turismo 5 sporting a thousand cars are now open for access exclusively on PS3.

Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital and creator of the series, has been the visionary behind the Gran Turismo series which has continuingly pushed the benchmark in terms of design and physics technology with every product release. Reportedly, Gran Turismo 5 is said to be no exception as it ”˜sets new standards of graphics, presentation, and gameplay.’

“Gran Turismo 5 represents the latest milestone in a journey which has spanned a decade. The vision and the experience is such that it has attracted the attention of the whole motoring world. The result is a testing ground, a play ground and a showcase for motoring, built around the sport of racing. Today we blend reality with the virtual: from the painstaking re-creation of existing cars to the redefinition, in Red Bull X1, of the future of motorsports,” explained Yamauchi.

Gran Turismo 5 offers over 1,000 licensed cars from the world’s leading manufacturers featuring new and old everyday road cars, pure racers as well as supercars which are all remodeled in intricate detail. The bountiful selection of cars include the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, McLaren MP4 12C, Nissan GT-R, Ferrari 458 Italia, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG along with the VW Samba bus and many more. With 26 locations and over 70 tracks to choose from, the latest installment delivers renowned high definition circuits like the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the Nürburgring as well as a Course Maker which allows players to create their own personalized circuits.

The game is attuned with the cutting-edge 3D technology and can be viewed on televisions with tri-dimensional compatibilities and 3D glasses. The face tracking function utilizes the PS Eye camera for PS3 enabling players to move their face to the left and right to shift their field of vision while driving. Additionally, Gran Turismo 5 allows upto 15 players to compete over PSN for an exhilarating racing experience.

In all the on-track grandeur, Gran Turismo invites players to experience realistic imagery, plausible physics and dynamics with super-speedy racing and internationally recognized in-game assets. The title is on sale as a Standard Edition which can be purchased for Rs. 2,499 and a Collector’s Edition is tagged with a price value of Rs. 2,799.
