Diablo Movie in Works?

A rumor had been floating around for couple of weeks about a Diablo movie in the pipeline. The follow up on this front does not quite authenticate the rumor but dopes give rabid Blizzard fans a moment to rejoice.

Will we have a Diablo movie?

Legendary Pictures (of “300” fame) recently updated their site with a brand new section termed as “Legendary 2.0” under this heading we can see the projects they are working on, the list included the upcoming “World of Warcraft” movie and the sequel to the mediocre Superman flick. Scrolling down a bit reveals the movie “Diablo” in the works.

Blizzard’s CEO Paul Sams says, “We searched for a very long time to find the right studio for developing a movie based on one of our game universes, Many companies approached us in the past, but it wasn’t until we met with Legendary Pictures that we felt we’d found the perfect partner. They clearly share our high standards for creative development, and because they understand the vision that we’ve always strived for with our Warcraft games, we feel there isn’t a better studio out there for bringing the Warcraft story to film.”

Even though The Lord of Darkness has finally decided to descend upon us, the fact remains whether the movie shall remain in line with all the other God awful game based movies we have seen till date. Given Blizzard’s record for perfection for each of their creations, it is highly unlikely they’d want a franchise as precious as this go down the drain as “A Uwe Boll” creation.

After the recent showing on the company’s website a couple a days ago, the name of the movie has disappeared from the company’s website. The company refuses to comment any further on this, more on this post E3.

Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, Double Dragon, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Dead or Alive, Doom. It’s only a matter of time before another batch of movies based games arrive on the silver screen. It has been a long time for this transformation to attain a genesis which has been applauded by the lovers of both communities. This time the creators beg to differ and hope lies in the fact that this effort does not go in vain once again.
