Digital Illusions and Electronic Arts (EA) have released new screenshots from Battlefield 2142, their forthcoming sci-fi multiplayer shooter.
Battlefield 2142, as the name suggests is set in the year 2142.A new ice age has dawned, throwing the world into a panic. The soil which is not coated by ice can only provide for a part of the Earth’s population. Some will live, the majority will die. Gamers will decide to fight for one of two military superpowers in a classic battle for survival, the European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition. Armed with a destructive arsenal of hi-tech assault rifles, cloaking devices and sentry guns, gamers will also fight using some of the most daunting vehicles known to man. Massive battle Mechs wage ferocious combat on the ground, while advanced aircraft rule the skies. When facing one of these new behemoths, players will need to use their understanding and an arsenal of new countermeasures like EMP grenades to level the playing field.
Battlefield 2142 is developed by Digital Illusions CE and will be published by EA. The game is scheduled to be released for PC in September 2006.
