Gamers are playing more this summer than the last. So says a bit of Nielsen Research data. Compared to last June, gamers have stacked up 768 minutes of total video game console usage this June, an increase of 21 percent. Also interesting to note down is that, according to this Nielsen research, the Xbox 360 has replaced the PS2 as the most used console over the last six months, between January and June 2009.
During this period, the Xbox 360 has registered the highest percentage of active users, and is the first current generation console to knock the PS2 off its perch, as the most played gaming console. The Xbox 360 has taken its share of the pie with 22.25 percent of the time played in May and June 2009.
The Xbox 360 has many things to offer such as the latest games as well as several online offerings on Xbox Live. This fall, Xbox will go forth and introduce a new era of social entertainment and 1080p streaming video from Zune, plus full game digital distribution via the Games on Demand service.
