PSN Will Gain Competitive Advantage Over Xbox Live: Naughty Dog

There has always been a debate as to which console is better, the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3. Likewise for their online services, there has always been a debate as to what is better, Xbox Live (XBL) or PlayStation Network (PSN). Now Richard Lemarchand from Naughty Dog has said that the PSN will gain competitive advantage over Xbox Live.

Naughty Dog Richard Lemarchand is a designer with Naughty Dog. In an interview with IGN, he was quizzed about Xbox 360 Achievements. Lemarchand replied, “Richard Lemarchand: It’s the same kind of thing. Everyone was very surprised by Xbox Live Achievements, of just how big of a pull that social aspect had, the fact that you could show off what you’d done in a game to your mates works is a really simple idea that works incredibly well.”

He further added, “I think it’s going to become the norm across all gaming systems. I like the fact that you can pull them up and look at them in-game anywhere you are on the PS3 interface. I think there’s going to be other things coming down the pipe that’s going to give PSN as a whole a competitive edge.”

Richard Lemarchand also spoke about games like LittleBigPlanet and said that they were looking forward to the user generated content and then mentioned that with art games like flOw and flower, Sony is looking to expand games as culture. He feels it will be similar to the way literature, fine art and pop music are.
