Ashes Cricket 2013 now cancelled, refunds approaching

The horrible disaster that Ashes Cricket 2013 turned out to be has now received been given an official statement on by its publisher, who has announced that all versions of the game have been cancelled. Obviously, ‘negative consumer feedback’ has been cited as the reason for this cancellation by 505 Games, while it has been revealed that all those who’ve bought it till now will be granted refunds soon.

Ashes Cricket 2013 was released through Steam on November 22, and it didn’t take much time for the furore to start, even as gamers started noticing that the title wasn’t fit to play at all. Negative reactions started pouring all over the Internet, with demands of refunds accompanying them. Subsequently, the title was pulled off Steam a few days back, and it is now that the publisher has spoken about it for the first time.

According to 505 Games, the developers of Ashes Cricket 2013 weren’t able to overcome the ‘unexpected challenges’ which their chosen game engine presented. The publisher has mentioned that its main priority lies in protecting the Ashes name and that of the ECB and Cricket Australia since it has acquired their licenses. 505 told Eurogamer that it would like to apologize to these bodies for this occurrence.

After its Steam release, Ashes Cricket 2013 was supposed to be launched for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U, but all these versions have of course been cancelled now. At the moment, the game holds a 0.9 user score on Metacritic, giving us a fair idea of how bad it is.
