Much has said about the next generation consoles with regards to the domination and the sales figures. Now Habbo’s Global Youth Survey has thrown up some really interesting findings. A majority of teens who were surveyed find rate the PlayStation 3 as either great or good.
Some 58, 486 teenagers falling in the eleven to eighteen age group were surveyed. Nearly seventy percent of the survey respondents indicated that they PS3 was the console of their choice. As for the other next generation consoles, Nintendo Wii came second with sixty four percent of the teens who participated in the study pointed to the Wii, while fifty eight percent pointed towards the Xbox 360. In fact, Microsoft’s next generation console is not that popular in Asia and Europe.
Emmi Kuusikko, Director, User & Market Insight, Sulake says, “The results of this survey are interesting as it gives us an insight into which brands these teens aspire to as the level of ownership does not correspond to the consoles’ popularity. By order of ownership, the Wii leads, followed by the Xbox 360 and PS3.”
The survey also found out that Wii is more popular than the PS3 in the eleven to twelve age group. Also, Nintendo’s next generation console is very popular amongst sixteen year old girls. Kuusikko mentioned that the survey pointed to the fact that gender determines console choice and not previous gaming experience and said that boys preferred the PS3 while the girls had an affinity towards the Wii.
