Just yesterday, we had posted that Rockstar had said that GTA IV would be a better experience on the Xbox 360. However, Sony has other plans with Rockstar. In fact, on the PlayStation.Blog, Michael Shorrock, the director of third party relations at SCEA has indicated that they are working with them for a new franchise that will be exclusive to the PS3.
Here is what Michael Shorrock had to say:
- ”As you may have seen this morning/last night on GameHead with Geoff Keighley, we are announcing that a new franchise from Rockstar Games will be exclusive to PS3. As part of our long standing relationship with Rockstar, and the incredible success for both companies with the cultural icon that is Grand Theft Auto, we’ve agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios.”
Shorrock also mentioned that Rockstar wanted to harness the power of CELL and Blu-ray disc. However, they have not released any more details about the game as Sony has an agreement with Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive Software to keep mum.
But you can surely make out that this particular PS3 game will be a visual treat, from what you hear from Mr. Michael Shorrock. So that settles it, Xbox 360 gamers get exclusive content for GTA IV, but PS3 gamers get an exclusive franchise!
