10 Simple Reasons Why the PS3 is a Commercial Dud

10 Reasons why PS3 is a Commercial Dud

10. The pricing parity is one of the basic reasons to avoid Sony’s Power machine, it varies to a vast degree from region to region, you can pick up a 60 GB PS3 for $480 in Hong Kong to around $980 in Denmark, comparing it to its closest competitor A premium version of a 360 retails for $380 in Hong Kong and $550 in Denmark. There is almost a $500 difference where Sony is concerned, looks like the marketing professionals at Sony are a bunch of freshers!

9. “Blu-e” Ray – The ongoing format war is far from settled with both Blu-ray and HD-DVD locked in a stalemate, both sides have a number of companies supporting the format, citing an example from the last generation very few people actually used the PS2 as a DVD player, it was first and foremost a gaming console, which makes me come to the point of having a Blu-ray player. Why would a gamer watch a movie that has been released ages ago than play the latest Metal Gear. Sony mixes everything and results in an un-necessary hole in your pocket; on top of that, the “adult entertainment industry” is supporting the HD- DVD format that leaves Sony’s console out of the “fantasy” world.

8. “Axis” and Allies – No rumble feature in the controller makes it a tad bit disappointing especially in those action games where the controller vibrates itself to glory.

7. Power unlimited power!!! – Sony wanted to rule once again with their machine and got a little high headed in the process making its machine really powerful, not realizing the fact that power has never proved an ally in the console wars, The PS2 was 10 times slower than the Xbox but managed to stay far ahead of it. It was the PSone, which killed the mighty Dreamcast and Sega Saturn. It is the software on a console that actually proves what it is made of. It was Nintendo’s franchises which helped it to stay afloat during troubled times.

6. A Devil named “Dante” Robbed our bank – Continuing on the software front, the flow of exclusive games seems to be at a trickle for Sony’s new platform. With majority games going multiplatform, Sony needs to try really hard not to screw up its first party titles like they did previously (The Getaway, Primal, Ghosthunter, Killzone), soon a “Snake” shall crawl out its hole as well.

5. GOW – Now that acronym implies two things, “Gears of war” and “God Of war” II.

4. My PS2 is still kicking – The PSP made it sure that a game appearing on its tiny screen would soon see a PS2 port eventually, Vader is still scheduled to appear on the console.

3. How do “Wii” say Copycat in Japanese – First Motion sensing technology and then Mii…Do you require the services of our Plumber at your “Home”.

2. A circle is 360 degrees – A year ahead start, kick arse games to boot, everybody screaming Live and more of goodness to come (Halo 3, Mass Effect, Alan Wake). A drop in the prices will send Sony back to the drawing board.

1. A DS – 1/5th the size, processing power has no comparison (N64 vs. PS3, a joke right) quadruple the sales of both hardware and games. A classic David and Goliath story!
