Video game publishers NCsoft and developers ArenaNet have stated that Guild Wars will now be available for Russian players in their native language from April 19, 2007. Unlike other online RPGs, Guild Wars does not separate gamers of different languages onto different servers, but instead allows gamers from around the world to play together.
Max Brown, NCsoft Europe Sales and Operations Director says, “We are happy by the overwhelming enthusiasm of Russian players for Guild Wars. With fully localized versions of all three Guild Wars titles, there will be no barriers to prevent all Russian gamers, new and old from fully experiencing the wonders of the Guild Wars campaigns.”
Alexander Mikhailov, CEO, Buka Entertainment said, “For the first time, Russian players will no longer be restricted by Russian language only servers. Now they will be able to join players from all over the globe. With full localization and the exceptional international districts, the language barrier will no longer exclude a player’s immersion and we’ll soon see Russian Guilds realizing their full potential within the international gaming arena.”
Buka Entertainment is the exclusive Russian distributor of Guild Wars. NCsoft had earlier released a Polish version of the game that was very well received. Let us hope they also come out with an Indian version of Guild Wars soon!
