Wii Mod lets users Play Game Backups Directly from USB Hard Drive

The Nintendo Wii has faced many complaints in the past because of limited storage options provided by the console. Well, not any more. Destructoid reports that a slight and seemingly simple modification to the Wii lets you backup and play games directly from an external USB hard drive.

UDB Hard Drive Wii Mod

Apparently, this mod is not all that complicated and needs users to have the Homebrew Channel installed. The Homebrew Channel is an application which lets users run unofficial software on the Nintendo Wii home console. In addition to having the Homebrew Channel installed, Wii owners will need an external USB hard drive and a few freely available files. Once the mod process is completed, Wii users will be able to store many games on the hard drive and run these games directly off the hard drive. And it appears that games run from an external drive take less time to load and run smoother, than if you played them off their game discs. You don’t have to keep inserting disc after disc to play your favorite Wii games.
