We’re now in the age of the multi-platform: Square Enix

Though speculations about Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360 had been going on from a long time, it was one of the biggest shocks of E3 2008. Many are still wondering as to why Square Enix decided to develop the RPG for the Xbox 360 also. Now Yoichi Wada from Square Enix has said that we are living in the age of the multi-platform.

Yoichi Wada is the president of Square Enix. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Wada explained, “We are now in the age of the multi-platform, but depending on age and territory, users have different tastes. Therefore it’s very difficult to just deal with one company or one hardware platform – in order to offer our product to the vast majority of gamers we need to deal with multiple companies and platforms.”

Yoichi Wada also pointed out that Square Enix always considers territory and hardware for titles. He mentioned he makes sure that Square Enix is neutral about dealing with companies. Earlier this year, Wada had also indicated that there is not much chance for single platform.
