According to Game Informer, Nintendo of America is planning to relocate their large sales and marketing force from the Seattle suburb for Redmond to either San Francisco or New York.
The news was leaked by sources close to Game Informer Online who stated that Nintendo of America had given a deadline to the employees, who will have to decide by June 1, 2007 whether they would be willing to transfer or accept a severance package. Even though Nintendo of America was created in New York City in 1980, they have been operating from Redmond, Washington since 1982.
However, the interesting thing is that Nintendo has a manufacturing plant in North Bend, which is just a mere thirty minutes from their current Seattle office. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Nintendo of America will actually move their whole staff to the new locations. Nintendo is keeping mum on the topic. Keep watching this space for more details.
