EA Battlefield 3 Arriving in October for the UK

E3 is the biggest platform for developers to showcase their games and they never fail to seize the opportunity. And the state of affairs is nothing different this year. EA Battlefield 3, the latest installment in its much acclaimed series, uses the Frostbite 2 game engine and will be showcased on the PS3 and PC at the ongoing event.

The game is touted to deliver graphics, action and sounds as genuine as real life thanks to the Frostbite 2 technology. It is apparently the only FPS using this technology and supposedly offers superior performance in character animation, visual rendering, audio / sound and physical destruction.

Executive Producer of the game, Patrick Bach is reported to have said, “We are proud to finally open the curtains and reveal Battlefield 3. The core development team has been together since 2005. We’ve grown together, taken some knocks together and now, we’re ready to take first person shooters to a whole new level, together. Like so many gamers out there, we’ve had some pretty wild ideas about what we’d want to see in a shooter. Until now, it was all just fantasy. But with Frostbite 2, even our most far-reaching ideas are becoming a reality. This is the game we’ve always wanted to create.”

To provide gamers, the reality of modern warfare, DICE, the developer of the game, has taken help from ex-SAS operator and author, Andy McNab. The single player chapters being showcased at E3 will introduce two new playable characters, ‘Dima’, a Russian undercover agent and ‘Jono’, an American Marine Corporal. The chapter will be based on characteristic Battlefield vehicle warfare setting the players up on large scale tank attack to deactivate a PLR base.

A multiplatform beta version will be made available for gamers this September. Pre-ordering the limited edition of the game will give buyers a ‘Back to Karkand’ digital expansion pack, featuring remastered maps from the earlier version of the series, at no extra charge.
