EA races in with beta version of Need For Speed World

Those who’ve been burning rubber with Need for Speed Most Wanted or Need For Speed Carbon and racing fans in general will want to hear this tidbit – Electronic Arts has launched the closed beta for their MMO racing game titled Need For Speed World as announced by Black Box. Players from all over the world will be able to participate in this PC beta test by signing up for the slots available on the Need For Speed World website.

The game has players racing through the cities made popular in Need for Speed Most Wanted and Need For Speed Carbon to cover 150 miles of racing space. Gamers will be able to contend against friends or even pick a top ranked player to challenge in online battles and police pursuits. Need for Speed World promises to team up adrenaline pumping racing action with a fun social experience in the biggest race world of the Need For Speed franchise.

“Need for Speed World is the world’s first MMO racer – a completely new entertainment experience for speed junkies all over the world. We have expanded Need for Speed’s classic adrenaline fueled racing with an all-new power up system and deep RPG style progression to create a truly massive, socially-connected white-knuckle Need for Speed experience,” enthused John Doyle, Need for Speed World Senior Producer.

Those who manage to grab a slot from the limited numbers available as a Need For Speed World tester will get an insiders look at the MMO game. Their feedback will help developers in touching up the title before its final version is launched on the PC this summer.
